There are also several natural insulations available to keep your garden room warm. The most common and well known are sheeps' wool and wood fibre. But there is a growning hemp and recycled denim insulation industry in the UK and cork can also be used, even as an external insulating cladding.
The appropriate insulation thickness will depend on your expected level of use and designing to optimise your budget.
Not only that, we also offer three different service levels to match your budget and ability. We can provide you with self-build instructions, a self-managed contractor information package, or a complete turnkey design and build service*.
To give you some sense of where that may stack up, each of our example designs are mostly mid-range - what we would describe as sophisticated designs. We calculate that you could achieve this for about £1,500/m2 if you’re self-building and we could deliver them for about £3,500/m2.**
* Currently only available in SE England and London.
** Assumes a site in the South of England, but outside Greater London. Estimates exclude complex site or service connections which can vary hugely depending on site access or costs for planning or other consultants should your site limit full permitted development potential.
